    Whatz PERM Internal ID!

For every PERM case number for review, there would be a dedicated HTML internal E9089 page associated with it. As shown in the below snapshot from the USDOL iCERT website, all certified cases have an associated HTML internal page and clicking the HTML tag, the certified case will open the Internal page of the respective case number.

The cases which are in Final Review or under process the internal Page will be a blank default page - without any data. And for all certified or Denial cases, this will be updated with the respective data per the applicant case details.

    Internal HTML page

If the HTML E9089 file is all filled up with the case information and it's not certified, it means the case is moved to Denied or in some cases to Audit. So this is the only information we get from the Internal Page.

You may get the same information for Attorney too. Checking the internal ID by going through all these processes is for impatient people like me., Unfortunately, there is no way to confirm the status of these denied cases, it will be notified only to your Attorney by mail - postal service.

Please note as mentioned above that nowhere in this HTML Internal page they provide the Status of the particular case number.

How to check your Internal ID?

Ok, here is how to check for your Internal ID
    1. Check for the Certified Case numbers closer to your case number, it would be ideal to check for a couple of certified cases closest to you(because sometimes rarely I noticed few Internal IDs go out of sync after a couple of hundred sequences of numbers).
    2. Open the HTML page of the certified case, Copy the last 7 (some cases 8 number) from this HTML page URL,
    3.  Add or subtract the appropriate number from that certified Internal ID case, depending upon the PERM Case number differences.
    4. The resulted number would be the Internal ID of the Case number you are looking for.
For Example, if certified case number closest is
A-18123-2222222  and opening its respective HTML page,

    HTML:> pjr.doleta.gov/index.cfmeve.........................Cert&doc_id=3&visa_class_id6&id=1234567

And from the above URL, the last 7 digits-

1234567 is the Internal ID of case number A-18123-2222222.

    • And if your case number is A-18123-2222224, then add 2 to the above Internal ID => (1234567 + 2)
    • if your case number is A-18123-2222220,then sub 2 from the above Internal ID => (1234567  - 2)

Change only the Internal ID with computed new internal ID and use the same URL of the certified case
will open the Internal Page with the new Internal ID... and you can check for blank or updated data information.

Checking the Status of PERM certification process

The below listed are few ways to check the status of your Case:
    1. The official website recommended: USDOL iCERT website, link attached  https://lcr-pjr.doleta.gov/index.cfm?event=ehLCJRExternal.dspLCRLanding. This is the official website, and by providing the PERM case number in the search option and the  Certified cases it will show up. Please Note: The website will show up only if the case is been Certified. and there are some days when the website goes to System Maintenance where nothing would be updated and even take few weeks. So patience!
    2. Unofficial 3rd party website Permchecker collects information from the above website and shows the statistics and status in theirs. https://www.permchecker.com. One of the coolest part on this website is to subscribe on their website and the website will provide an alert when your case number is certified… very much recommended to guys who don’t want to know the status of PERM on daily basis and have plenty of time for their PERM to be approved.
    3. Unofficial 3rd party website DOLStatus - http://dolstats.com/ Initially I thought this was an official website for USDOL, but when I saw the data not getting updated on their websites for few months, I came to know about it and uses the iCERT data for the website.
    4. From your Immigration attorneys or Company HR. Having your Attorney on good terms and politely pushing them to call the DOL to know the status, would easier in case the DOL is processing the Case numbers way beyond yours. But in most cases the attorneys are charged by the hour, so each time you call, they may charge you for it and it would be better for the Company HR to request them for status.

Per my understanding in a normal scenario, the status of any case are -
    • Final Review: Case numbers ready for processing, after the initial check whether all the necessary documents are received by DOL. The case number will go to the normal processing Analysis Review.
    • Analysis Review: Currently processing PERM applications.
    • Audit Review: any further details or information is required from the employer or the applicants during the Analysis.
    • Certified: PERM Case is reviewed and approved by the DOL
    • Denied: the DOL denies the Case for various reason and the reason will be shared with Attorney and applicant

The iCert website shows up the Case number only after the completion of the Analysis review/Audit Review and is Certified(Approved). Please note there is no way we can know whether the particular Case number is in Analysis Review or Audit Review or Denied. If the case number are in Audit Review or Certified, the immigration Attorney will be receiving an email immediately or by the end of the day. If the case number is Denied, the denial notification will be sent to an attorney by normal post – mail.

There is another way to know whether the case is in Audit for some impatient guys like me using the Internal IDs which I’ll talk about in another post.

    Processing Time

The normal processing time for any cases for Analysis Review would be around 120 to 150 Days. There are chances the PERM Cases are just approved after a long processing time just to check our patience 👐 or after the requested information is provided(Audit Review) to get it approved. The requested information may be some miNute details where we don’t need to do anything, maybe they need some company information from the attorney. So the case moving to Audit is a normal scenario and nothing to worry about.

DOL doesn't follow any particular order, somedays during the start of the month I see they process the cases based on company alphabetic order and after few days it goes through random selection. Not sure what factors they go through in each case. There may be chances where the applicants above your case number or below are been approved and your case might be processing.

Or there may be chances where your colleagues from the same company with the same designation are approved and not yours. Believe me, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. The only thing we can do is patiently wait.

But in cases where we don’t have any status still after the application was filed more than 3 months prior to the month mentioned in the processing dates in the Icert website, we may contact their Helpdesk for a status on the application at plc.atlanta@dol.gov.

Go to Current Processing time ->  PERM Processing time

Annual Report Performance Data and Disclosure data.

The USDOL also provides the Quarterly report of all the PERM cases number which are currently processing. This report is very useful for knowing the list of Case number applied per month, the case numbers in Certified or Denied, or in Audit.

Maybe if you are not sure about your Case number or when it was applied(Filed date), you can look at this spreadsheet. You can filter by your company name or the Attorney firm who applied your PERM application

Decoding CASE NUMBER, CASE RECEIVED DATE and PRIORITY DATE

The application Case Number will be shared to you by your Company Attorney or your Employer HR.
    • PWD Case number starts with T-XXXXX-XXXXXX
    • PERM Case number start with A-XXXXX-XXXXXX

The PERM Case number and the PWD case number would be the same except the first letter schema....goes by calendar year and day when the PERM application is initially drafted (Please note: not filed date). So, lets say If the case number is  A-18123-XXXXXX,

    • A - its PERM Application Case number
    • 18 - the year when the Case was initiated, initially drafted.
    • 123 - the day of the year, when the case was initially drafted. So, it means the above case is drafted on May03, 2018(Thursday) using this Epoch Day converter [Click]
    • XXXXXXX - DOL updates unique number as it receives the applications.

Most of the time the Attorney may file the PERM Case the same day the PERM application is initiated or drafted. So, by checking the case number we can know when our Perm Case was filled, if it is filed the same day the CASE_RECEIVED DATE by the DOL will match with Case number.

But there may be chances where the Attorney may have drafted the PERM cases 2 to 3 days earlier in advance and then filing the PERM application. In this scenario the CASE_RECEIVED Date and the PERM case number will not match and will not be part of the case number. In most cases there will be a difference of 1 or 2 days between CASE_RECEIVED Date and PERM case number, as the attorney would take a day or two to file each application.

Also, sometimes there is the old school way where the Attorney files the PERM certification through normal postal service by Mail. In these cases, the CASE_RECEIVED Date or the Priority date will be earlier than the specific PERM Case number, the PERM case number will show later dates.

CASE_RECEIVED DATE and PRIORITY DATE are same. The Date of filing of the PERM Cases to Department of Labor.

CASE RECEIVED DATE/ PRIORITY DATE are the important factor to check the PERM processing time in US department of Labor website. The DOL iCert website shows the currently processing cases of particular month(The month when they received the applications).
Ill have another post sometime just to brief out how to check the status of PERM Case number.

Various Steps Involved with my PERM Application Process

The various steps involved in the Green card application are briefed here per experiences with my employer and the process/scenarios maybe different with others.

I'm working for a service based company and i have 14 years of experiences. Since its service based company I have worked for various companies in US. Was located at Illinois for 4 years, 2 year in Rhode Island and 1 year in Massachusetts and exhausted my H1B Visa.  I tell you that I really liked my stay in Rhode Island the best.

Ok, so it goes like this. Firstly, I had to get the approval from my Manager and Sales Manager for the application of my GC application. After the approval the HR contacts the Company Immigration attorney for the filing process, the HR shares the initial details like the Job description and the requirements to the Attorney.

Per my understanding, the various steps involved in this Employer based US Green Card Application are as below. -be aware these are per my company process, may be same for everyone..

Step1: My company Immigration attorney applied for the Prevailing wage request, i think he applied for filed the prevailing wage determination (Form ETA 9141) application.

Step 2: The company HR opened up a Job advertisement in local Newspaper for a period of 3 months (90 days). Lucky for me no one had applied for this Job requirement and I can go to next step.

Step 3: All my details, my profile and the Job Recruitment reports were shared to the Company Attorney

Step 4: The Company Immigration Attorney filed for the PERM Labor Certification Application ETA 9089

Currently I'm stuck up here... Having a Stressful time and eagerly waiting

    the next step would be,

    Step 5
: Apply for I-140 Petition- which I’m planning to apply in Premium processing and revoke my H1B Visa with H1B Cap exempt 1-year extension and return to US.

    Step6
: Then for I485 which I’m not currently concerned with. I’ll keep you'll posted as I reach this stage.

Here is pictorial on the above said

    Something about PERM ?.

PERM Certification process or Labor Certification process is the first step for Permanent Residence Green Card Petition Application.

PERM stands for Program Electronic Review Management. And this PERM labor certification process allows any employers to recruit a Foreign National worker on a permanent basis in US. The Processing time for this may vary between the applicants depending upon various factors involved. maybe I’ll talk about it in another post
